Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.3) Installed from: SuSE RPMs OS: Linux This is definitiv a strange behavior and also very anoying: When selecting an Icon on the Desktop and moving it around, it "can be" (50%) that it is really slow and the user get the feeling like having a really slow computer or any process is lagging the system or stealing 99% of CPU-ressource. but "sometimes" selecting 1 Icon, and moving it is just fast as expected to be. just the same normal behavior like on any other Operating System. This is similar if selecting more than 1 icon and moving them arround. ATTENTION: On fast computer you might not notice this bug. BUT on my PIII 450 MHz it is really noticeable and gives a feeling like a slow machine or "somethings going wrong with any running process". Please try that out on a similar or slower maschine. A suggestion, where/how to find the Bug in the source: my opinion is, the Bug is related to the "loading of the Popup-Info". Reason: 1. if you click the icon and directly moving it, then mostly the moving is fast. 2. if you click the icon, and waiting a bit, but moving the icon(s) BEFORE or AFTER the Popup-info of the icon appears, then mostly the moving is very slow. Please fix that. the Desktop will get a better, complete and smooth behavior. Thanks.
Could you check if this is the same problem as the one reported in bugreport 54859?
oh, sorry, i tried that out about the diffrent position where to click on the icon, that's exactly my expierence here. this is a duplicate to Bug "54859". (hoping Trolltech will fix that soon :) gonna close this bug now.. thanks
Bug closed. Kdesktop is no more mantained.
