Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.2) Installed from: Gentoo Packages Now standard the following icons are used in kdm: share/apps/kdm/pics/users/default.png share/apps/kdm/pics/users/root.png I think more beautiful icons for the default user and root icon are interesting.

I was thinking of an icon like share/icons/crystalsvg/128x128/apps/personal.png but without you can see it's a male-female. For the root icon I should take the same icon but black&white with eventually a red note of exclamation on the body of the person.

Do you know the Mandrake Display Manager (mdkdm)? It's very nice. I like the different penguin user icons. In KDE 3.2 there are more icons availible but as I haven't deleted my .kde3-dir, I c&n't confirm if the default icons also are changed. But if this is so, this bug may be closed.
I heard kde 3.3 will have more icons, but are the *standard* icons more beautiful in cvs now?

No default ones still the ugly ones but there are lots of cool ones that you can choose from and which are installed by default.
So: not yet fixed :-)
I was about to open a new list for it but maybe it isn't that appropriate. As a KDE user and considering I do a lot of icons for my own use, I decided to release a set of consistent (same style) and varied user pictures for Kdm on kde-look.org : http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=17355 I was asked to open a bug for this set in order it to be included in the next KDE release. It does'nt include default ones for root or user (althought the icons with a key fitts wery vell for root).
I'm all for removing old ugly ones and add some , maybe all of the pics from Adrien's report.

ok, this was open for long enough. there are two new regular user icons, but unfortunately nothing for root. too bad. if somebody feels the urge to reopen this, reassign it to artwork.
