Description Carsten Lohrke 2003-09-02 16:34:10 UTC
Version: future (using KDE KDE 3.1.3)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux

It would be cool to be able to burn wav+cue-sheet (multiple songs in one wav) and ape files on the fly.

monkey's audio : http://www.monkeysaudio.com
linux sources: http://www.personal.uni-jena.de/~pfk/mpp/index2.html#ape

Thx for the "plextor reader seen as writer" bugfix btw.!! :)

Hello Sebastian. I read your note about ape, so I had a second look at http://www.monkeysaudio.com/developers.html

I'm so sorry that I even asked to add this feature to k3b. :(

On the other hand I don't understand, why http://neroplugins.cd-rw.org/ can provide a plugin for ape/nero without being sued.

argh - my englisgh isn't that good - the full quote:

>Just to be clear, you'll have to agree and comply to all of the terms of the license agreement (included with a full download) to use Monkey's Audio in your own product. Basically that means that if you're a freeware author, go nuts. If you're trying to make money, in any way, talk to me first.

So does 'go nuts' mean 'just go on' or 'piss off' !? Native english speakers are asked.

any commercial software use "legaly usable" file format ?

that would be fun if we could burn windows images using k3b. but I understand, if there is legal issue, we're screwed.

basically, the following extension would be really cool

- .cue with .wav/.bin (without the monkey thing)
- .cdi (diskjuggler)
- .nrg (nero)
- .ccd + .img + .sub ??? (less sure)
- .mds/.mdf (Alcohol 120%)

if none of these get to your TODO list, i guess this bug can be close as won't fix.

about the Alcohol file format, all i found is the windows tool (called magiciso) that convert it to .iso

thanks.

k3b cvs is able to import audio cue files to an audio project.
as for the other formats: it's a lot of work and I personally have no use for it... so it's priority is very very low.

A bit late, but: I never really used the plugin, since it did not work to load a cue sheet with the tracks of an ape file. Furthermore it was decided that Gentoo does not support monkey audio, until the author answers, clearifies and unifies his license(s). Thanks for your work Sebastian, but I think I need an ape2flac application for my remaining monkey audio files.

K3b cvs has an audio transcoding plugin which will convert all your apes to flac if you like. You can also add an audio cue to an audio project. K3b will split the file into several tracks according to the cue file. Soon this will also be available via tools->burn cd image. :)
