Description Peter Bittner 2003-08-31 21:02:24 UTC
Version: 3.1.1 (using KDE KDE 3.1.1)
Installed from: Unspecified Linux

In the Konqueror file manager (kfm) I have found no way to go up one directory (i.e. doing a "cd ..") using the keyboard only.

In Windoze generally the [Backspace] key has this function. Can this be made a feature of kfm, too?

P.S.: To explain, using the mouse to enter a directory is easy, but to go up one directory requires a lot of mouse movement: You have to move the mouse up to almost the very left upper corner of the application's window to hit the "up"-arrow button - since there is no ".."-entry in the file-list (which is absolutely okay for me).
In my opinion it is usually much faster and convenient to hit the [Backspace] key on the keyboard.

Alt-Up. As is documented in the Go menu, besides the entry, and as it configurable.

Okay, thanks! Sorry, I never even looked into this menu. *shame on me*

Alt+Up is okay for me. I have read the comments about [Backspace] to have the "visit last
visited page" functionality in the Konqueror Web Browser, so I agree that Alt+Up might be a
better choice than Backspace (which might be used for "Delete" on some platforms).
