Description Christian Loose 2003-08-30 10:51:36 UTC
Version: 2.2 (KDE CVS >= 20030827) (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
OS: Linux

Keyboard shortcuts are not saved on program exit.

How to reproduce:

1. Add a shortcut to 'Show Terminal' like e.g. Alt+C
2. Close kate and re-start it
3. The function 'Show Terminal' doesn't have a shortcut anymore

hmm, this shortcut is kmdi specific and it seems it isn't saved as no xml file around to
save it too, jowenn, could you take a look ?
Comment 2 Christoph Cullmann 2003-09-13 00:15:29 UTC
reassign it to kmdi
Comment 3 Christoph Cullmann 2003-09-13 00:16:33 UTC
hmm, bugzillas webfrontend should ask you too which component for the new product
while reassigning :/

This issue is solved in CVS HEAD.
Some problems with the focus handling seems to make it behave weird in IDEAI mode though, so I'm not gonna backport untill I have a solution for that as well.

guys, this still exists in 3.2.3
i've been loosing my mind for a week trying to get
the shortcuts changed.
again, the same problem (alt-ctrl-shift-b issues)

thanks!

It looks like this bug has been fixed in Kate 2.3 (KDE 3.3). At least I'm able to assign F7 to Show Terminal, which I couldn't do before.
Comment 10 Aleksey Kontsevich 2004-09-01 00:12:56 UTC
Quite possible as KDE team promised to. But I havn't have it yet
Comment 11 Christian Loose 2004-09-02 22:43:30 UTC
It's true the 'Show Terminal' case is almost fixed but I can still reproduce
it with other actions (kdelibs+kdebase CVS from 20040901):

1. Add a shortcut to 'Show Terminal' like e.g. Alt+C
2. Close kate and re-start it
3. Shortcut is still assigned
4. Add a shortcut to 'CVS Log for Current Document' like e.g. Alt+L
5. Close kate and re-start it
6. _Both_ shortcuts are gone

2004-09-28, KDE CVS BRANCH, still reproducable.

Hi,

has this ever been fixed? I had a similar issue at least 3 times in the last few weeks. I did not yet tried to reproduce, but I'm going to do that today.

This is still happening. Kate 2.5.5. Assign F1 to find, F2 to show terminal, F5 to documents and F6 to file browser. After reboot (Kate was left running during shutdown) F5 and F6 still binded correctly. F1 and F2 are blank.

Is inconsistent though as occasionally it will remember?!
Comment 16 Matt Rogers 2008-02-10 17:30:16 UTC
kmdi has been removed in KDE 4 and no more fixes will be made for KDE 3.5.x. The
apps that were using kmdi in the KDE SVN repository have moved to their own
multi-document implementations
