Version: Mandrake 9.1 (using KDE KDE 3.1) Installed from: Mandrake RPMs Compiler: gcc in Mdk9.1 OS: Linux Hi, I was wondering if you could please provide two additional features to empulating mouse keys with numpad. Currently we can set features in KDE to emulate the mouse with the keyboard numeric pad keys. If you can add a feature to dynamically switch off and switch on the emulation that would be great. For e.g. in Win2k the checkbox 'The shortcut to enable mouse keys is - Left Alt+Left Shift+Num Lock'. Also, use mouse keys when the Numlock is On or Off. This makes it easy for people to turn it off temporarily by pressing numlock once, type in the numbers and switch it back on. The other feature and the more useful one will be to use Shift to slow down and Ctrl to step up the mouse key movements. So if I am on one end of the desktop I could press Ctrl and right arrow to reach to the other end of the desktop in 5 clicks rather than keep the right key pressed for 10 secs. I know I can increase the acceleration but that bugs me a lot when I am trying to get to a something which is moderately close to my current mouse location. The accelerator goes too fast if I choose that. Thanks. Navin
Hello Navin and Gunnar, I agree with and support Navin's wish concerning controlling mouse pointer movement with the keyboard, with Shift (making it slower) and Ctrl (making it faster). However, in KDE 4.5.3, mouse emulation seems rather messy with possibly two mouse emulation methods in conflict with each other. On one hand you have the emulation in System Settings -> Input Devices -> Mouse -> Mouse Navigation, where you move the mouse pointer with the numeric keypad, and on the other you have an emulation switched on by pressing Alt+F12, where you move the mouse pointer with the arrow keys. I would suggest deleting the latter method and keeping and developing the former. I would also like to suggest making Num0 work as right click since Num5 already works as left click. Regards, Magnus
Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this project has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug. Kcontrol has been replaced by System Settings in Plasma. Please give the latest version of that a try, and open a new bug in "systemsettings" if you continue to have an issue. Thank you!
