Description Peter Backlund 2003-08-10 11:08:20 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.2)
Installed from: RedHat RPMs
Compiler: gcc 3.2.2
OS: Linux

The Network sidebar component is IMO totally out of place. It is basically a set of bookmarks for KDE websites and ftp directories, and should therefore be changed to exactly that. Instead, the LAN browser service should be moved to the Network tab, which makes more sense.

So, a good set of default bookmarks for Konqueror and moving the LAN browser to the Network tab (replacing the KDE site browser) is my suggestion.

Indeed - I've always found this silly (especially because the LAN browser uses the same icon as the network tab).

Update for KDE 4: LAN browser seems to be gone.

The network sidebar is pretty much unchanged otherwise. I agree that the default entries seem strange; in a way they're just examples of what one can put in there. Maybe it should show the same as dolphin's Network places shows, instead.

@David: it could be an idea :-)
