Description Emma 2003-07-27 17:39:19 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.1)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

I would like to have an option which closes the window when you double click on the system menu of a window.
(I knowtthis feature was removed because of usability reasons, but why not make it available again as an option?)
Comment 1 Stephan Binner 2003-07-27 21:10:35 UTC
It was just reintroduced for some decorations which emulates systems with such
behavior.

Resolves broken "double-click does not close window" for default kwin style

This patch adds "menu button double-click closes window" functionality for kwin
default client. The functionality
by default is turned off, but can be turned on by new
option in configuration dialog, "Close window on menu double-click" check box.

Adding the same function to the other clients is extremely trivial; anyone
willing me to create a patch for their favorite
kwin client is welcome though.

I dont think this should be in the windeco client.
but more in the kwin core, allowing any button on any windeco to do anything.

Comment 5 Dmitry Karasik 2004-05-10 19:10:58 UTC
Jee, it WAS in the core once, and was thrown out for paranoid ( though probably respectable ) reasons, so I had to resort to such a stupid hack AND, what is more valuable to me, spend time for a feature I always had. I don't know what is the status of the poor button now, but IMO it must serve as a minor warning to the k00l k0derz, in particular that noone would thank you for a broken app, whatever lofty reasons were to broke it.

No more coffee today :)

Seems to me that even in those styles that do have the double click to close-functionality, it doesn't work on a rapid double click. It just opens the system menu.
Comment 7 Knut Johansson 2005-03-03 01:48:23 UTC
Quick test of all styles in CVS ca 3.4beta2 give the folowing.
These styles do not close window on double click on system menu:
KDE1
KStep
Keramik
Quartz

These styles do close window on double click on system menu:
BII - configurable
CDE
Icewm
KDE2
Redmond
Plastik - configurable

And it dos not apply to these as they don't have system menu:
Glow
Laptop
Modern System
OpenLook
RiscOS
System++
Web

I should note that a patch that fixes this problem (at least in several themes) is available in bug #107185.
