Description automailer 2003-07-26 23:56:47 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.2)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

The Usefullness of KOrganizers What's Next view would be imroved if there was an option to have Korganizer Countdown to Special Dates / Due ToDos.

Example:

My next vacation is comming up

I can't wait for that date and want to see it in my "What's next view". With what's next telling me Daily how many more days it will be to that deadline.(And it will always be displayed even if it's a decade away ;-) - see below)

Suggestion for implemantation:

Dialogue were users can choose certain categories that will be handled that way. Advantage: No other dialogues will have to be modified.Maybe a per category display on when to start displaying the Countdown should also be included. ToDos should not be shown before their Start Date or a preconfigured prior time.

Cheers,
Thorsten

That's a nice idea.

Reassigning all KOrganizer bug reports and wishes to the newly created
korganizer-devel mailing list.

I would opt for showing the upcoming events as normal events, but with additional info, example:

( as normal reminder! )
Upcoming events:
+2 days: buy flowers

Upcoming events:
+1 day: buy flowers

Current events:
buy flowers

In this case user set "reminder in advance" (wished option) for 2 days.

The current korganizer (shipped with KDE 4.1) should do what you wish : just set up a new event and select "Special Occasion" in the categories list.

The event will then appear on the Kontact summary page under the "Upcoming special date" section.
