Description Steven Casey 2003-07-04 07:17:22 UTC
Version: 1.2.1 (using KDE 3.1.0)
Installed from: Mandrake Linux Cooker i586 - Cooker
Compiler: gcc version 3.2.2 (Mandrake Linux 9.1 3.2.2-3mdk)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.21-0.13mdk

performed the following:
#man group

man page appeared in window but could not get back to a prompt. a ctl-c, ctl-z would not fix it. Had to open a new window.

Is it possible to kill the "man" process from another window? E.g. with
"killall -9 man" ?

Cheers,
Waldo

yes, it is possible, but that's not the point. If I wouldn't mind opening up
another window, then having a man page lock up a widow wouldn't be an issue for
me.

What happens if you run the same man command in xterm? Are you sure nothing
sent a "terminal freeze" (Ctrl+S) sequence? Try hitting Ctrl+Q and see what
happens.

Could you also test Konsole from KDE 3.1.2?

Very old version/report.
