Version:           3.1.0 (using KDE 3.1.0)
Installed from:    Mandrake Linux Cooker i586 - Cooker
Compiler:          gcc version 3.2.2 (Mandrake Linux 9.1 3.2.2-3mdk)
OS:          Linux (i686) release 2.4.21-0.13mdk

In future versions I would appriciate Konqueror supporting file preview for OpenOffice documents, where It makes the qute little icon displaying the documents contents.

This is implemented in Koffice cvs-head and will be in Koffice 1.3 release

Will there be a way to have this file preview availiable without having Koffice installed, I 
build systems for my company and place only one word processor on them OpenOffice 
so all useres create thier documents in the same office suite. We have a mixed 
network of linux, windows, and mac boxes.  Will Koffice ever be porter to run on thiese 
other platforms? 
 
Which part of Koffice would need to be installed to just have the *.sxw file preview?

Koffice will natively run on with Qt/Mac soon. Keep an eye on Fink.
