Description Sean Donnelly 2003-06-23 04:24:45 UTC
Version: 3.0 (using KDE KDE 3.1.1)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

I dloaded a wav file. The wav plays in xmms with no trouble. I can place the same wav into a win2k pc and it plays as the startup sound. I cannot get this file or other external wavs to play thru knotify.

I have even chmod it to 777 and it still won't.

Changing back to the stock notify startup wav the stock sound plays just fine. I sure would like to have my own wavs playing instead of the stock notifications.

I am using SuSe 8.2 upgraded from 8.1. This is my only machine. athalon 2ooo 512mb ddr ram, 80 gig hdd onboard snd card (don't know brand).

Thanks loads.
Sean

when viewing it in the KNotify control panel, if you click on the little "Play" button next to
the startup sound, does it play?

what are the contents of your ~/.kde/share/config/knotify.eventsrc file in [startkde]
section?

Replaced smdonnel@charter.net with null@kde.org due to bounces by reporter

Arts is no longer developed and has been unmaintained for quite some time - more than 2 years. With phonon as the replacement for arts in KDE4, we're closing out all the arts bugs in Bugzilla since there is no chance of them being fixed.

Thanks
