Version: 2.2.1 (using KDE 3.1.2) Compiler: gcc version 3.2.2 20030222 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.2-5) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.20-13.9 When I play .wav files in noatun that are 16-bit stereo 44.1KHz samples, they are played approximately a semitone sharp (slightly more, as far as I can tell). I estimate that they're playing at 48KHz. If I play them using play (sox) or xmms, they are played at the correct pitch.
In KControl->Sound and MM->Sound System, Sound I/O tab, set the samplerate to 48000 (and also try forcing 44100 if that doesn't work). I don't know if this will fix it, but it might.
Sorry, this was a config problem. I had "custom sampling rate" selected, I think a setting left over from my previous laptop (it says "you may need to set the sampling rate to 48000 for a Yamaha sound card", which I had on my last laptop). I don't use sound players very much, at least, not demanding that they be precisely in tune!

The human ear is very sensitive to even a very small change in frequency, actually :) I find it odd that this would be a problem, aRts should just resample it differently. Oh well. -Charles
