Description Andrey Cherepanov 2003-05-27 06:17:17 UTC
Version: 3.1 (using KDE 3.1.0)
Installed from: compiled sources
Compiler: gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.1 2.96-98)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.7-10

There is very useful feature in most popular organizers - create link between organizer items: contacts, notes, todos, events and so on. It's need to link (or create with link) event(s) to task and get complete figure of planned tasks. Now I see only two items to link: tasks and event. Possible via Kroupware, we will can link contacts, notes or common files (I hope, it will be released) ;-)))

This feature may place to separate tab in the edit dialog of task or event.

I believe bug #74974 is a duplicate of this bug. I will copy my comments from that bug over here:

Yes! Yes! Yes! This is a feature that I have been looking for for a *long* time. Let's say I have an appointment with John Smith on Wednesday at 2:30. Why should I have to click on the address book, click on search, type in John Smith, press Enter -- when I could just click on the name "John Smith" in my appointment and poof! There's my address book entry.

I would also love to see links between the to-do list and the address book. I've got a to-do "Call John Smith". I should be able to link that to-do entry to John Smith's address book entry so that a single click gives me John Smith's phone number.

All sorts of possibilities open up when you start adding easy hyperlinks to the system. Calendar entries could link to the to-do items that are due on that date: a single click takes you right to the "Notes" field where you can record your progress. Links could be made two-way so that the address book entry for John Smith would "remember" all the calendar entries that linked to it. Thus I can look at John Smith's address book and see all the appointments I have with him in the future. (Past appointments could also be looked at, but might be hidden by default, or placed lower on the sort order so that future appointments come first, then a separator line, then past appointments).

I have given the maximum number of votes allowed (20) to this wish. If I could have given all 100 votes to it, I would have. This feature would make any PIM into a "killer app" for me -- I would immediately switch to it and never look back.

And also it should be possible to link an email to an event.
Use case: I receive a mail which informs me, that customer X wants a meeting to discuss blah, blah, blah ...
Now I choose a date, and then I'd like to link this mail to the new event so that I know what we will be talking about when I check that event some time later again.

Reassigning all KOrganizer bug reports and wishes to the newly created
korganizer-devel mailing list.

Oh, this would be great to have! But please do include the journal in this. Example: I speak to John Smith and then summarise my conversation in journal. That journal entry should be linked to John's address book entry and should be searchable from there
