Version: 1.2 post (using KDE 3.1.9) Compiler: gcc version 3.2.3 OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.21-pre5-jb-w4l I pasted the list of packages at http://opendoorsoftware.com/cgi/http.pl?p=kdecvs;frame=1 into konsole to 'apt-get' them all. Konsole froze. I waited at least 30 seconds, nothing happened. The window was movable but didn't react to anything, I couldn't even switch konsole "subwindows". Now for the really strange thing: I opened another konsole and used 'strace' to find out what was happening. the frozen konsole didn't consume any (visible) CPU time (according to xosview). I started 'strace -p 3049' (which was the other konsole process id). Suddenly, the frozen konsole woke up again and accepted my paste - that is, until my CTRL-C pleas were heard, because the paste were multiple lines and konsole started lots of already installed KDE programs. =;) I tried this thrice, every time konsole woke up again exactly in the instant I started strace. Very strange. But perhaps you can make more of it than me. Thank you for a great desktop, Jens
Subject: Re: [Konsole-devel] New: konsole freezes when you paste large amounts of text into it Can confirm this. Happened to me as well the other day. Still there (CVS 2004-01-02), including the strace strangeness. Please try to reproduce and ask if you have any questions.
Cannot reproduce with 3.3.1, closing.
