Description Daniel Franke 2003-05-13 14:10:33 UTC
Version: 3.0.0a4 (using KDE 3.1.1)
Installed from: compiled sources
Compiler: gcc version 3.2.2
OS: SunOS (sun4u) release 5.8

In 'Automake Manager' - Add Existing Files to <target>:

Assume a directory containing about 20 files, so at least to columns are displayed. Now select one file in left column, press [SHIFT], select another file in the right column.

One would expect that in the left column all files to the bottom of the list, and in the right column all files from top to the selected one will be highlighted - nope!
It seems that a 'square' of files is highlighted, bounded by the files one selected.

While I agree this is odd behaviour, this is a regular KDE component, so the bug
shouldn't be put to KDevelop. I'm reassigning it.

A workaround is to change the view mode to 'detailed', which will put all files in one
column. (Rightclick the fileview -> view -> detailed view.)

It seems to happen in all "File Open" dialogs in KDE applications when trying to
select all files in a multi-column display. I'm using KDE 3.1.2 on SuSE 8.2
Comment 3 Daniel Franke 2005-01-14 14:49:02 UTC
Seems to be still valid in KDE-3.3.91 (beta1).
Comment 4 Daniel Franke 2005-01-14 14:49:42 UTC
Forgot: built from CVS 050113

This report is about two and a half years old and still (sort of) valid in KDe-3.4.3 (gentoo): any chance that anything changes at some time in the future, say KDE-3.5 or KDE-4?
Comment 6 George Goldberg 2008-02-18 04:20:52 UTC
Is this bug still present in a recent KDE version, such as 3.5.9 or 4.0.1?

In KDE-3.5.8 for sure, haven't tried 3.5.9 or 4.0.1 yet. Don't expect that anything changed, though.

Seems to have been fixed in KDE4 trunk.
