Version: 1.91 (using KDE 3.1.9) Compiler: gcc version 3.2.3 OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.20-bf2.4 The slider that pops up in the system tray when the kmix is clicked with the mouse is not the volume slider. I mapped each slider in kmix to a hot key, and through this exersize I determined that the slider that is shown is the 'sync' slider. Additional Information When I open the kmix window, I have two mixer tabs. The first is 'MS Sound System (CS4231)' and the 'sync' slider is the left most slider. The other tab says 'Yamaha OPL3-SA3' and the 'volume' slider is the left most slider.
Could you please post the output of the following command here: cat /proc/asound/cards Thanks, Chris
I am unable to post the output of 'cat /proc/asound/cards' as there is no 'asound directory in /proc
Can you please then check: 1) Do you have configured kdemultimedia/kmix for ALSA or not? Please state the configure options. It looks to me like you have changed the configure options. 2) Are you running ALSA drivers? Chris
I am running Orth's debian packages. According to him, kdemultimedia/kmix IS configured for ALSA but should be able to run with the OSS drivers. I am running OSS sound drivers.
Hi, you stated: 1) "The slider that pops up in the system tray when the kmix is clicked with the mouse is not the volume slider." 2) "The first is 'MS Sound System (CS4231)' and the 'sync' slider is the left most slider." But on OSS the first mixing device is always "Volume". So if you use OSS, the behaviour of KMix is correct. What I do not understand is what you mean with 'sync' slider?!? There is no such thing in OSS. Please state the real name as shown by KMix (via Tooltip or by enbling the labels). Chris
My appologies. I should have said 'Synth' rather than 'sync'.
OK. Now I understand. It is hard to guess for KMix, what the "right" soundcard is. I am planning to make the configurably. So I will merge this bug with #55078. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 55078 ***
