I like this wish very much (especially as KMix was able to do so in early KDE1.x versions). Will be done when time permits, but definitely NOT for KDE3.2, Chris

I implemented a simple proof-of-concept. Actually it is good enough to qualify as real implementation. You will find it in KDE4.8. Please see the keyboard shortcuts "Load volume profile 1" and "Save volume profile 1". I support 4 profiles.
