Version: RH8 rpms 3.1.1 ex kde.org

Background: This version OK with 16bit color depth. Require 8bit color depth for compat with old app.

Reproduce:

1) Select X server color depth 8 bit.
2) Open konsole, set font to fixed [misc] regular 7 
3) Show some lines (ls -l). 
4) Push ^L
5) Observe remains of characters on most lines
