Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.1a) Installed from: Gentoo Packages I set $TERM to xterm-color (instead of default xterm) for `Shell' session (Settings menu => Configure Konsole => Session tab). After that, when I start new session through Session menu => New Shell, $TERM variable is Ok (xterm-color). But if I run new session via "Ctrl+Alt+N" ("New Session" command), I get $TERM=xterm. I guess this is rather unconstintent to have two different settings for new shell. Probably "New Session" should use settings from "New Shell" command. Or there should be way to specify shortcut for "New Shell" menu item.
Can't reproduce this (with this description).
I still confirm this bug. Just have reproduced this bug exactly following this description. I've reinstalled kde since bugreport (same version) - bug still remains. What do you mean "Can't reproduce" - do you mean that you get TERM=xterm-color even when start New Session using Ctrl-Alt-N?
hello, control-alt-N indeed differs from 'new shell', it opens the lastly used session type. i have many configured session types (ssh to that host, ssh via that host to that host, ...), and when i hit control-alt-N it always uses the lastly used session type. this might be a feature and not a bug, but it is very inconvenient as it means unpredictable behaviour (i opened a ssh shell, i closed it again, but the next 'control-alt-n' will still connect to that host), and i mostly use (like probably almost everybody) the normal shell, so its almost never 'right'. I think there are two possible solutions: - use a default session type for the shortcut key - let the user assign a shortcut key for every session type (this would be sexy, but overkill maybe) thanks! greetings, frank
Subject: Re: [Konsole-devel] Ctrl+Alt+N differs from "New Shell" menu command > this might be a feature and not a bug, > but it is very inconvenient as it means unpredictable behaviour I agree with the reporter that this is unpredictable behavior. I think predictability of the user interface is more important than the advantages that this feature bring along. I suggest that Ctrl-Alt-N be made equal to "New Shell" and that it is made possible to bind other shortcuts for starting other sessions. Cheers, Waldo
It's changed in HEAD.
