Clarification: As I just understood this report should have been named "Re-editing a message resets the identity settings". KMail sets the last identity which was used together with the "Sticky" option no matter whether you're creating a new message or re-editing an old one. So if you changed some of the identity details (for exaple the "From:" field, see above) or even chose another identity this will be reset on re-editing. This occurs only when you have set the "Sticky" option. But I still can't see it as a feature because you normally set the identity when creating a message and the automatic change during re-editing is easily overlooked.
Seconded. This can lead to problems when using Kmail with several identities (such as "home" or "work", for example).
This is still reproducible on trunk r881868. This is a question of policy. It should be clarified if this is a bug or a feature request.
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report. KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2. We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
