Description jcook2 2003-03-30 00:49:38 UTC
Version:            (using KDE Devel)
Installed from:    Compiled sources
OS:          Linux

This was suppose to have been fixed ages ago. So i guess this bug as resurfaced.

I also think this is meant for kdelibs ( whatever ).

In konq if you have a long url in the dropdown the address bar will get greedy and push off the following buttons ( "go" ). There must be some way to say: "X" , "location:", and "go" are fixed, and <location bar> is variable_not_greedy.

I can confirm this behaviour on Konq from KDE 3.1.2. It is most annoying as it means I need to
keep my windows really wide to stop the address toolbar from deciding it needs to be under
rather than beside the main toolbar.

For those looking to workaround this problem, I can offer the following tradeoff.

If you don't mind losing the auto-complete functionality of the location bar, you can clear it's contents and then prevent it from updating ever again by issuing the following command:
$ chmod 444 ~/.kde/share/config/konq_history

This prevents anything from getting into the location bar, meaning it will always go as small as you'd like.
