Compiler:          gcc-2.96 
OS:          Linux

If I highlight text in konsole it works ok. It is only when the
scrolling kicks in that as thetext starts to scroll I can still select
text with the mouse, but the highlighting starts to move down the
window, offset from the mouse cursor. 

When a full page of text has gone by, highlighting dissapears
completely, but I can still select text.

Did you highlight text with triple clicking? Please try again with current CVS.

I compiled a fresh build from CVS. It looks good now.
