Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.1) Installed from: RedHat RPMs In the printer properties, could you add the an option for job-hold-until in the GUI to set or not all new jobs in the hold state ? Adding it into the lpoptions is overwritten when use the save button. TIA
Michel, thank you for your bug report. The bug/wishlist item that your reported does however not apply to KDEPrint. The reason is this: --> It is already implemented since many years! <-- ;-) I admit, it is not very obvious for expert users like you who are looking for the official IPP job attribute name and keyword "job-hold-until". The kprinter GUI represents this functionality on the "Advanced Options" tab (click on "Expand" to get a larger dialog window) -- "Schedule printing: Never (hold indefinitely) | Daytime | ... | ... | Specified time | Immediately". The bug report will be closed. BTW, recent kprinter versions have already quite some "WhatsThis" help items included for the most important widgets you could click on or fill in. The "Schedule printing" is already covered. I am trying to make the WhatsThis help for KDEPrint complete in the coming months so that 100% of kprinter widgets are covered in KDE-3.4. -- Please have a look through all of the currently implemented ones and tell me where they could be more clear in the wording (or shorter, more verbose, etc.) Cheers, Kurt Pfeifle
I think he meant the fact that the user cannot set job-hold-until by default for any new job. A possible hack is to add it manually to lpoptions file, but this is lost when the file is rewritten by kdeprint (to be confirmed, but I think this is still the case).
Any news about this one, before I close it? (I think we need a more generic solution for saving job options, and I may open a new wishlist/bug report about that.)
Not from my side. Options from the main print dialog are not saved. Dot. As you said, a more generic mechanism is needed.
Changed $summary and marked as KDE4 task (previous $summary was: "job holded by default")
KDEPrint in KDE3 is unmaintained and will have no more new features implemented. KDE4 uses the Qt print dialog instead. This request will never be implemented as a result. Closing. Note that saving/restoring print defaults is not yet supported in Qt printing, a feature request will be raised with Qt for this.
