Currently the "simple" theme has this bar at the top that has on the left the status ( eg |> for playing, || for paused ... ) , and on the right is the current time / full time.

Better use of space would be to put that top bar on the status bar to the right.

The current status is not realy needed as one can deduce the state from the control buttons. eg: if you press the play button ... it changes to pause.  So its pretty obvious that its playing.

eg. on the bottom ( in the status bar ) have:
|_ filename _ | _ current time / max time _|

Fixed in KDE_3_1_BRANCH and HEAD
