Description Christos Vasilakis 2003-03-04 04:26:55 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1)
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package
Compiler:          g++ (GCC) 3.2.1 [FreeBSD] 20021119 (release)
OS: FreeBSD

i have just installed kde 3.1 on a FreeBSD 5.0 current. KDE works perfectly
and looks perfectly. Only one slight problem. When trying to execute the
Konsole application, it doesn't open. It opens the little window on the
taskbar informing me that the application is opening but at the end it
doesn't. It just dies silently...

Any ideas ?

Looking in the error screen it states the following
/usr/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: /usr/local/lib/konsole.so: Undefined symbol "ptsname"

Any ideas ?
Thanks in advance,
Christos

Reinstall. This was due to a set of packages that unfortunately only worked for -CURRENT that
was built between two specific dates about two weeks apart. After that, there were changes in
the base system that broke the -CURRENT packages, and since then there have been a couple
more.

At present, if you're using -CURRENT, it's not recommended to use the binary packages, rather
install from the ports, and to rebuild at least kdelibs if you have problems, or even after every
buildworld. You can use make deinstall; make reinstall in a port directory to force it to rebuild
with the same version, even if there is no upgrade yet available.
