Description dme 2003-02-20 22:28:27 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1KDE 3.0.3)
Installed from: RedHat RPMsRedHat RPMs
OS: Linux

When I print a message, the header information is largely lost. I use Long Headers which displays the subject, date, from and to in the message window. When I select print, I end up with only the from and to lines at the top of the page, losing both the subject and date etc along the way.

I can't reproduce your problem. Does printing from Konqueror work? Does
printing to a file work? Are the first two lines visible in the
preview?

I suspect that the upper margin for your printer isn't set up correctly
and that the first two lines are therefore cut off.

I also see the top of mails cut off when printing (SuSE 8.1 using KDE 3.1.1).
This has been a problem for me since 3.0.3. I don't know if this is necessarily
a KMail problem or a KParts problem because it happens in KWord and KWrite also.
It's not CUPS or my printer because it happens on a wide varity of printers
that I have access to (QMS, HP and Lexmark) and other apps print fine out of
KPrinter.

We are simply using KHTMLView::print() to print messages with KMail. So the problem is
either in KHTMLView or at a lower level but not in KMail.

When I preview the message all lines are visible, and if I then print from
the preview mode I get another line and a half that does not print
otherwise. Printing from Konquerer does not work properly either. I have
just received an error message, but when I printed that page it did not say
ERROR. Printing started with the line reading
The requested URL could not be retrieved.
In preview mode the full page view was visible.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

if it's in the print preview, then the PS generation should be fairly correct and only
the printing itself is broken.

I remember that KDEPrint had previously a bug in page size / margins computation that could produce that problem. Basically, it computed a page size larger than what it should be, so you can view it in the preview, but it is clipped when printed. This error have been fixed when I noticed it, so the problem should have been disappeared. Is this the case now?

The bug reporter told me it has disappeared. Closing the bug.
