Description Frans Englich 2003-02-19 21:20:00 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1)
Installed from: Slackware Packages
OS: Linux

(are not running 3.1, actually 3.0.1 but wanted to report it anyway so..)

KWord version is 1.2.1

Alot of KOffice apps support many different file formats but don't get associated with them. A novice user which want to open his/her ms doc file can't because "it's not supported". I suggest all supported filetypes should be associated with it respective app at install. (so people get the impression that there _is_ support)

cheers,
Frans

Thank you for your bug report.
This is likely problem with MIME-Type. Could you perhaps try this script for

Sorry for the "late" reply :)

The script runs just fine, I tried to reproduce with KWord 1.2.1/KDE 3.1.4 on a heap of MS word files with "no luck".

Feel free to reopen :)

cheers,
Frans
