Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1) Installed from: Debian stable Packages OS: Linux I greatly desire the ability to play FLAC files in noatun; I have recently archived every CD I own to FLAC[1], and I dislike using XMMS to play them. I have no experience programming with KDE, and a very small amount of C++ experience. However, if given some pointers, I'd try to implement this functionality on my own. another useful thing would be a audiocd FLAC plugin for ripping to flac
I think FLAC support would greatly add to noatuns and KDEs set of features. If you look at www.hydrogenaudio.org their forum has FLAC on top in a recent poll about lossless prefered method...
FLAC playback is now provided by the xine_plugin in kdemultimedia. A seperate plugin can be found in kdenonbeta/flac_plugin, where a kfile-plugin is also present. Audiocd-support is not yet finished, but not part of the original wishitem. Now how exactly do I close bugs?

I'm still not able to play FLAC files with Noatun (kdemultimedia-3.2.0-1.3), or with artsplay (arts-1.2.0-1.5). Both play ogg files fine; other players (AlsaPlayer, XMMS) play FLAC files. I'm using RPM packages from Fedora Devel. Is it necessary to activate some plugin?
FYI, the packages provided by RedHat do not include flac support. The ones from http://kde-redhat.sourceforge.net/ do.
