The "matching bracket highlight" feature (great one) breaks after the first piece of folded code. The highlighting works fine up to the folded piece, but rarely for the rest of the file.

The same thing happens to me. Only restarting kate does help. Strangely, this 
happens only for rather complicated pieces of code with, say, more than 4 levels 
of brackets. It only happens to me with { } not with round or [ ] brackets.

is fixed in head, think some sideeffect of our cleanups for 3.2, will be ready in 3.2, not 
sure if any backport will ever happen for 3.1.x as too much has changed
