Ok, I have the same problem but I'm  running it from SuSE instalation. This error always happens when I try to connect to MSN using the Kopete MSN plugin

I get the same crash during kopete startup, witht he same backtrace infi (i.e. none). Mine was installed with KDE 3.2 on FreeBSD (part of the KDEnet package).

It only happened after I set up MSN and AIM, but I'm not sure which service is causing the problem... I also can't seem to find a .kopeterc file or dir to manually go in an edit the file, tracking down the bug.

You want $KDEHOME/share/config/kopeterc and possibly the files in $KDEHOME/share/apps/kopete.

I also keep getting this crash on Kopete startup. It first occured when I added an IRC account and tried to connect to it. Is there a fix for this bug available?

Jennifed, I have no idea why you've pasted this backtrace here. Anyway, your problem is mostly likely to be caused by a buggy libxslt installation, please try upgrading your libxslt.

Jennifer:  The topic of this (very old) bug report is indeed the symptom you report, but the cause is different.  Please see bug 100826.  The problem is in the libxslt package, version 1.1.13 has a bug.

So when will this be resolved? I do not wish to go backwards and have to reformat this drive again and go through theupdates only to find it is going to crash this Kopete 0.10 again? Will the libxslt ever be upddated from 1.1.13?? If so when.

That's a question for Slackware.  You can up or downgrade a single package without reformatting the disk, though.

I also use slackware current and I had to downgrade to libxslt-1.1.12 provided 
with 10.1. If you use -current then you know how to upgrade/downgrade a 
package. If it really bother you, bug the people on the #slackware channel. 

Ok, got libxslt1.1.14 and it is working with KDE 3.4.0 and Slackware 10.1 -current woohoo finally no more crashing.

I'm also on Debian unstable.
used kopete for some time with a crash per week. But since a dist upgrade that i can't recall exactly when, it doens't run for more then a couple of minutes. i get some 200 crashs per day (but hey, it's the only IM client on linux that i can make global key bidings.)

I've followed the instructions here and installed the latest libxml2 and libxlst. but it didn't solve anything.

Then i tried to compile Kopete, just to find out that it's impossible to compile anything that uses KDE on debian... i bet they compile on another distro and then make the debs :)

I simply removed the jabber account (now i have only an ICQ one) and no more crases in the last hour

I have the exact same errors as listed in the two above mentioned. I'm running Ubuntu gutsy, kdm (4:3.5.8-0ubuntu2) and ion3(20070506-2) as window manager.
