Description Philip Wall 2003-02-03 23:34:15 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc 2.95.3
OS: Linux

When using the LAN Browsing functions of Konqueror the functions appear to not work.
I don't know if it was a change in Lisa or in Konqueror itself but it sure is different from 3.0.5a.
The problem I see is when you get down the tree for a host to SMB when you click the SMB everything goes blank, ie no files appear to be shared.
I tracked the problem down to the URL Konqueror uses when trying to browse a host.
Konqueror shows in the location bar lan://localhost/wildcard/SMB when you try to see what shares are on host wildcard. What should be in the location bar is smb://wildcard which when I tried it produces the proper results by showing you the available shares on the host.
Please note this affects not only smb but fish and ftp as well.
When I upgraded from 3.0.5a I removed all KDE install files except those in my user home directory.

I think this is the bug which Waldo fixed in cvs.
If you don't want to update, try whether the tip in "comment 2" on the following page
works for you: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53202
If it doesn't, please notify me.

Comment 2 Philip Wall 2003-03-18 21:24:47 UTC
Comment 2 listed in Bug 53202 provides a good workaround till the next KDE
release with the fix included.
