Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1) Installed from: Compiled From Sources Compiler: gcc 3.2.1 OS: Linux Note: Qt compiled with -system-jpeg and jpeg should be a plugin, only png builtin. I just got KDE running, I'm having other issues atm with it too, but this atleast didn't work. By default, there is this nice jpeg image as background in the settings, and a gradient behind it and I only saw this gradient, went to right-click-desktop --> configure desktop.. to set the wallpaper, it shows all jpeg files in the list but isn't able to show preview for one in filemanager either nor in the preview desktop image. Dunno how to explain this more precise. It just doesn't work. Konqueror though is able to show all jpegs and for example make thumbnails automagically for those. -rzei ps this bug seems to be mentioned first time at http://dot.kde.org/1013076354/ somewhat end of the comments.
I believe this was intended for kdesktop - changing...
yes, of course, how blind can one be..
AFAIK Konqueror doesn't use Qt to load jpg's (and Kuickshow too I think). Try e.g. with KView. I think you simply have Qt miscompiled or misconfigured and it cannot find the jpg plugin.
Have you had a chance to re-try with other programs?
installation issue - Qt not compiled with jpeg support.
Bug closed. Kdesktop is no more mantained.
