Version: 1.5 (using KDE 3.1.0) Installed from: SuSE Compiler: gcc version 3.2 OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.19-4GB When I received an email which - is not signed - but contains a quoted message which was signed KMail reports this email as signed. Probably because KMail doesn't see the separation between the real message and the quoted one?
Subject: Re: New: KMail reports unsigned messages as signed KMail treats all messages that contain one or more clearsigned text blocks as signed messages. That's no bug but a feature.
A feature? Can you explain to me what it is useful for? The only thing it does, as far I can see, is to report unsigned messages as signed when they contain a signed reply. For the end-user, it is like saying "This message is signed... but not by the person who wrote it!" and thus very confusing.
Subject: Re: KMail reports unsigned messages as signed Sorry. I think I misunderstood what you where complaining about. You are talking about the signature status icon which is shown in the header pane next to the messages subject, right? If this is the case, then you are of course right.
Yes, that's it. The "signed" icon appears (incorrectly) for messages which are not signed, but which contain a signed answer. I've re-read my original bugreport, I wasn't too generous with details, sorry...
Subject: Re: KMail reports unsigned messages as signed Thanks for the bug report. This bug has been fixed (-> KDE 3.1.1). For your information: Now messages which are not fully signed (except for an unsigned footer which is often added by mailing lists) but which include clearsigned text blocks are reported as partially signed.
