Version: 0.89 (using KDE KDE 3.0.99) Installed from: Gentoo Packages Compiler: gcc 3.2 OS: Linux KDE 3.1rc6, useing KDE 3.1rc6-i18n-nb translation: When encodeing files in KAudiocreator, you select a Genre (music type) for the audio tracks to be encoded. The Genre list -is- translated to nb, causeing a bug: Lame and OggEnc have an explisit list of Genres they expect (they also accept numbers). Useing a selected Genre (music type) that is translated causes both Lame and OggEnc to fork. Lame doesn't encode at all, it just gives an error message saying that the file cannot be encoded... Trying to encode an audio track/file with the genre 'Annet' (='Other') makes KAudioCreator use this failing command line with Lame: sh-2.05a$ lame --r3mix --tt 'Loser' --ta 'Beck' --tl 'Mellow gold' --ty 1 --tn '01' --tg 'Annet' '/home/oyvinds/wav/Beck/Mellow gold/Beck - Loser.wav' '/pub/audio/Artists/Beck/Mellow gold/Beck - Loser.mp3' Unknown genre: Annet. Specify genre name or number sh-2.05a$ oggenc does encode files with translated messages, but the id-tag in the encoded files ends up with blank genres. KAudiocreator has the option to customize the command line, removeing --tg %genre from lame allows it to encode. Oggenc, however, seems get the command line option " -G genre, --genre genre" added even though this is not (by default) listed as a command line option. This is a kind of 'serious' bug, since KAudiocreator seemed unusable until I finally figured this out.
locate kaudiocreator.mo and then deleteing all files listed is another way of by-passing this bug. Also, I just noticed that the Norwegian translators have translated 'Rip Selected Tracks' with 'Brenn', a word that means 'Burn' and is assosicated with 'burning/makeing CDs'. Maby the translators ought to actally try the program and check how the output looks. I translated a program myself, dc.ketelhot.de, where I did the mistake of translateing the connection speeds (Cable=Kabel and so on). That lead to desaster (good thing I noticed it before releaseing the translation), because these strings are sendt to the HUBs. To I removed these translations so the original strings would be used. The same would solve this whole bug thing, Simply Instruct Translators Not To Translate anything in the Genre part of KAudiocreator (put some comments in the source, the'll notice)
