Description Jonathan Chaillet 2003-01-09 23:32:43 UTC
Version:            (using KDE KDE 3.0.99)
Installed from:    Mandrake RPMs

Selecting text to copy works intermittently.
Sometimes it requires me to right-click->Copy, sometimes not. SHIFT+INSERT and/or middle-click sometimes works to paste, sometimes it requires right-click->Paste.

My desired behavior would be select-to-copy, shift+insert/middle-click to paste.

I am filing this as a bug, not a wisklist item, since the behavior is indeterminant.

You're sure that you are not confused by the two different independent
clipboards?
SHIFT+INSERT is not identical to middle-click. The first pastes the clipboard, the
second your current selection (SHIFT+CTRL+INSERT for this if you want to use
keyboard).

hmm, apparently that is my problem. I had thought that SHIFT-INSERT was to
paste the selection as that is how it works in many other window/session
managers. I guess this is not the case with KDE. My mistake :)

Odd, I deleted the alternate Paste "SHIFT-INSERT" from the
ControlCenter->Accessibility->KeyboardShortCuts->ApplicationShortCuts and it
still pastes from the KDE clipboard. Shouldn't it be undefined, and do nothing?

Anyway, the indeterminent behavior was apparently mine, so I guess this can be
closed out.
