Version: (using KDE KDE 3.0.99) Installed from: Unspecified OS: Linux WineHQ made a short how-to ("How to do a sexy screenshot") at the end of this link http://www.dssd.ca/wine/Wine-0.9-TODO-0.7.html As the screenshots of KDE at KDE.org often show a modified desktop, not the default one, first time users often get a wrong impression of KDE. Often I wonder what the screenshots want to show. I think the usability project shall provide a Screenshot how-to with good and bad examples, shipped with the screenshot utility. That is common guideline howto make nice screenshots that show what you intend to show. I also believe screenshots at KDE.org have to improve. Common guidelines can help.
Subject: Screenshots It would be nice to have screenshots of the defaults, but to have *all* the screenshots use the defaults would give people the impression that KDE isn't configurable. A balance must be reached.
Kind of: Look, the background can also be black. But obviously it is very difficult to find a distri-independend screenshot that shows the default view. And some of the KDE 2.2 shots look much better than KDE 3.x. Same is valid for screenshots of applications. Despite of Kdevelop projects try very hard to make it programms look very special.
Replaced elektroschock@linuxmail.org with null@kde.org due to bounces by reporter
Testing (Sorry!)
KDE has its screenshot FAQ too in the meantime. As the reporter has "disappeared", as there is no vote and no CC, I am closing this bug as RESOLVED/INVALID. Have a nice day!
