Version: (using KDE KDE 3.0.99) Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages Setting up the keybindings in use for Kate is extremly confusing. First there are 'global keybindings' set via the controllcenter (or however you call that application). Then tehre's Settings->Configure Shortcuts finally there's Settings->Configure Kate->Editor->Shortcuts. Some of those even have several 'subgroups' of keybindings. How am I supposed to find the keybinding I need to change in all that mess? If I know the key that triggers the action I want, how can I change it? There's no way to search for a key that I could see. I was trying to change "Move to beginning of line" from "Home" to emacs-style "CTRL-A". Took bathering a couple of people in #kde-users to figure out how to do that;-) Kate is a extrem example IMHO. Other KDE apps feature two keysettings dialogs (the global one and a application specific), kate has even one more. Two is allready too much IMHO. Regards, Tobias
Suggestion: move all of the keybindings to Settings->Configure Shortcuts to be more consistent with other KDE apps.
fixed typo in summary s/useability/usability
Same issue in the new Kate for KDE4. Shortcuts should be configurable only from one dialog, such other kde apps.
