Version: (using KDE 3.0.0) Installed from: SuSE Compiler: gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (SuSE) OS: Linux (i586) release 2.4.18-4GB I installed cups via the "printing" site. Installation went completely. Various indications show that it was successful : name of printer appears where appropriate, etc. However, when I do a print, nothing comes out on the printer. The disk churns, then goes quiet. This actually applies to Kword, to Konqueror, etc. I have ruled out hardware error because my dual-boot system prints fine under Windows 95. The error occurs when logged in as root, and when not as root. lpstat returns no information. The system is very simple. lprng has been removed by rpm. The printer is a Lexmark Z43, installed with drv_z42.

Reassigning to kdeprint (but check your /var/log/cups/* files for errors.... error reporting in CUPS, well, sucks).
Try this: print to PS file, then print the result using "lpr" command-line utility. Does this work? Michael.
Subject: Re: does not print via cups Thanks for your interest. The problem's solved. It turns out that I never installed drv_z42! Why not? I intend to find out, but at the moment I suspect it's my bad. Thanks anyway!
