Description oyvind 2002-12-09 14:46:08 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.0.99)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc-3.2-7 redhat "-O3 -march=athlon-xp"
OS: Linux

This happens every time on my computer:

1. Right-click a MP3 or OGG (same happens)
2. Select "Play in embedded media player" (the kaboodle part)
3. Press PLAY.

NOTHING HAPPENS. It just .. does nothing. File length displayed is 0:00.

The strange thing is that if you:
4. Press STOP.
5. Press PLAY again. Now, It PLAYS, and filelenght is correct. It works. Everything works.

.. But if I then press back again, and try another file, it's THE SAME: Nothing happens... but play, stop and play again plays the file.

When I open a MP3/OGG in Kaboodle, it starts playing at once, just fine.

Playing MPG movies in Konqueror/Embedded media player works fine (no problems). This problem only affects mp3/ogg.

I use ALSA for audio.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help resolve this bug..
(rm /opt/kde/share/services/kaboodle_component.desktop does hide the bug, but doesn't really resolve it.. )

What Konqueror/Embedded media player looks like initially on MP3/OGG

This is what Konqueror with Embedded Media Player looks like after pressing
Play on any MP3/OGG. However, pressing Play, Stop and Play again plays the file
and displays correct file lenght/info.

I was able to reproduce it, so I just fixed it right now, thanks!

Hopefully this is the last issue in the move from KPlayObject to KDE::PlayObject.

This is still happening as of 3.1.3. Now when I restart the stream the network traffic
increases and then drops off. After which nothing visiable changes on Kaboodle nor does
it start playing.
