Description Cp Hennessy 2002-11-16 14:02:16 UTC
Version:           1.5 (using KDE 3.0.9)
Compiler:          gcc version 3.2
OS:          Linux (i686) release 2.4.19-4GB

If you have a mail thread with many articles in it on many
branches you can close one branch (i.e. hit the "-" so that it becomes a "+").
Now if you use the space bar to see the next unread article
on another branch of the same thread, then you will see
that the branch you just closed by be opened again, AND the
new article in the other branch will be marked as read!

I am unable to reproduce this with 1.5.9, but it might be my lack of understanding of
exactly how this bug manifests itself. Are you still seeing this with 1.5.2 or later?

I think, it's easiest if you provide a little mbox with a thread that shows the problem. I use both the space
bar feature and threading a lot and haven't recognized the error - but I'm using kmail 1.5.9
Comment 5 Richard Urwin 2003-09-20 11:21:18 UTC
I see this bug when selecting with the mouse. New mail in a complex thread tree
is displayed on a minimally expanded tree, but clicking on that mail expands the
whole tree. KMail seems to mark the mail as read, expand the tree and then
select the mail at the same row as it was previously. If there were previously
collapsed branches in the thread above the selected mail then this row will be
the incorrect one. Using the toolbar NextUnread button works OK. (maildir
format, KMail 1.5, Mandrake 9.1)

Thread in mbox-format

Collapse the Alexej Kryukov sub-thread;
Right-click on Andrey Rahmatullin messege;
Mark message us unreaded;
Click on the first message and then again on "unreaded" message.
Comment 8 Stephan Kulow 2003-09-22 15:12:35 UTC
With KDE 3.1 I can reproduce the problem in #5, but I fail to reproduce the
problem Serge describes (using KDE 3.1.4)

Yes, I've tested it and I cannot reproduce it with kmail cvs. Can someone
else, maybe?

Comment 12 Dmitry V. Sabanin 2003-10-04 07:46:07 UTC
Can't reproduce bug in kmail-cvs too.
Comment 13 Till Adam 2003-10-14 23:25:37 UTC
Serge, CP, I'll close this, as it seems to be fixed in cvs. The fix will be in kmail 1.5/kde 3.2, so if you still see it there once it is out, please tell us by re-opening this bug report.
