Description Erik Hensema 2002-10-05 11:40:50 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.0.8)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

I'm using focus-follows-mouse. When I enter the konsole window with my pointer, the 'Session' menu is selected, as if the mouse were hovering over the button. I therefore cannot type into the konsole, but I have to click the window first, defying the whole idea of focus-follows-mouse.

This happens only with Konsole!?
Comment 2 Erik Hensema 2002-10-08 19:52:27 UTC
As far as I can tell, yes. I've reinstalled 3.1beta2 (at the time of reporting
the bug, I was running 3.0.3stable). The behaviour is still there.

It doesn't happen every time, which makes it kind-of hard to debug. But when you
work with focus-follows-mouse for an hour or so, the problem will occur multiple
times.

It also happens on resizing a window. Sometimes :-/

Seconds after posting my last comment, I found a reliable way to trigger the
bug. It's not konsole-specific too.

Move the window with alt+click, the menu is selected after releasing the alt-key.

I'm not sure wether the bug is triggered in other situations too or not. More on
that later.

(and somebody please assign this bug to the right developer, it's outside
konsole now)

Qt bug (or call it feature if you want). If you press and release Alt alone, menu is selected. If
you press Alt, do something that will be intercepted by other application (global keyboard
shortcut, window moving/resizing), and release Alt, Qt has no chance to detect the intercepted
action. Feel free to complain to TrollTech.
In case some your problems don't seem to be caused by this, provide more details, otherwise
this bugreport will be closed.

This bug has been introduced into Qt 3.0.5 then, Qt 3.0.3 (and KDE 3.0.3) does
not have this bug.
Comment 6 Lubos Lunak 2002-10-09 11:04:32 UTC
I have KDE3.0.0 and Qt-3.0.3 here (none of the patches in the rpm package seem to be
related), and it happens here too. In fact this has bothered me since a long time ago, which is
why I have this feature disabled in my Qt build on my personal computer. Either way, it's a Qt
bug, and IMHO the only way to "fix" it is to get rid of it. May I close this bugreport, or are some
of the problem not Alt-related?

I haven't been able to reproduce the bug in other situations, so I'll close the bug.

I looked around on the trolltech website, but couldn't find a way to report
bugs. Any pointers?
