Description Martin Koller 2002-09-30 11:21:03 UTC
Version: 3.1beta1 (using KDE 3.0.8 (KDE 3.1 beta2))
Installed from: compiled sources
Compiler: gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.1 2.96-98)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.17

From a users point of view it is not clear, why I edit the categories in a dialog, but the colors for the categories are defined in a completely different dialog.
It should be done in the same place, where I edit the categories.

Also allow defining of different colors for multiple catagories.
For example, I use the catagory of billable for any calendar entry that will be billed back to my consulting company and set that as red. I also use the holiday catagory for all holidays and color that as blue. Then I select Billable and Holiday for the holidays that the consulting company pays me since I use the billable catagory to create my timesheet and to get paid for a holiday I have to add it to my timesheet but in the holiday block. I can't simply use the holiday catagory because I don't get paid for all holidays so I use the combination of both to get paid by the company. Now say I want to color any item both billable and holiday as yellow. My suggestion would be to have a dialog box where you choose a color, then the normal catagory box where you can choose one or more catagories for that color.

I concur with the original bug report. I only accidentally found the event colouring feature after a week of KOrganizer usage. It is hidden too deep in the preferences, and it is very inconvenient. I think it would be much better to have a table where you could simultaneously see all your categories and their assigned colours.

colors ought to show in the month view, which as of KOrganizer
Version 3.4.1 they don't.

They do if you activate it: settings -> configure Korganizer -> Views
-> Month view uses category colors

Reassigning all KOrganizer bug reports and wishes to the newly created
korganizer-devel mailing list.

In korganizer for KDE4 the dialog for configure the categories colors is still in a separate window. It should be better to have only a dialog for configuring categories AND the colors.

still the same in current 4.4
