(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: kmail Version: 1.4.3 (using KDE 3.0.3 ) Severity: wishlist Installed from: compiled sources Compiler: gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.1 2.96-98) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.9-13 OS/Compiler notes: Hi This has been alluded to before (cf: 41270). The tools for dealing with spam are getting increasingly interactive which means interacting with them from within kmail. The problem is that there are dozens of tools (dcc razor spamassassin spamcop bogofilter off the top of my head) so any solution is in real danger of feature bloat if it needs a different patch for each tool. I think I've thought of a solution that will work in all cases but then I might just be being optimistic :-). basically it comes down to allowing filters to be attached to mail boxes. e.g. If Mailbox = missedspam then forward to spamassassin-sightings If Mailbox = In then confirm delivery The hope is that with only one extra entry under the filter actions (i.e. no feature bloat) all spam tools can be catered for. But I may have missed something obvious? What do you think? (Submitted via bugs.kde.org) (Called from KBugReport dialog)
A general way of "trigger if program 'X' returns <true|false>" would be very useful, and would instantly allow integration with bogofilter, spamassasin, as well as any other custom mail-recognition program. Related it would also be super if it was possible to say: "if 'X' then pipe message trough 'program'", this allows integration with any of the many tools who markup or change mail in any way. For example I could use a html-cleaner tool for removing any unwanted html from html-messages, or pipe messages in ALL-CAPS trough "tr A-Z a-z" (to give a silly example)

In KMail HEAD, you can additionally enter arbitrary filters into a special menu below "Message".
