(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: kmix Version: KDE 3.0.7 CVS/CVSup/Snapshot Severity: normal Installed from: Compiled sources Compiler: gcc 2.95.4 OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified The system tray volume mixer (single-click on systray icon) seems to take the first mixing element that the /dev/mixer provides at least when the mixer does not have a Master Volume. I have a device (USB speaker) that has three mixer elements in the following order: 1. Bass 2. Treble 3. PCM KMix uses the Bass in the systray volume mixer which is pretty useless. The behaviour that I would is expect is that the mixer takes the master volume if there is one and if there is no master volume it should take the PCM volume. (Submitted via bugs.kde.org)
This unfortunate behaviour still persists in KMix 1.91 (KDE 3.1.3 -- SuSE 8.2 RPM). In addition, the mute function (from the tray icon context menu) mutes Bass instead of the (PCM) volume. Also, the Balance slider does not work have an effect other than the Bass slider going to zero and back to the initial volume. I have Harman Multimedia USB Sound Sticks, with ALSA 0.9.0rc7 (SuSE 8.2 RPM). artsd is configure to use ALSA in the control center. Regards tom
