What is it supposed to do?

Ah found it. http://msdn.microsoft.com/workshop/author/dhtml/reference/methods/navigate.asp
It's MSIE specific.
The docu says "Loads the specified URL to the current window."

How is window.navigate(url) different from window.location=url ?

Yes window.href =3D window.location =3D window.navigate

But I post this wish because the people write web page focused in MSDN.
4 of the 5 applications on my enterprise uses window.navigate()

I belive than is very important adopt all IE features. It's my opinion.

Maybe isn't important but I belive than yes is very important.
