Description muth 2002-06-10 09:34:29 UTC
(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: konsole
Version: KDE 3.0.0
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: RedHat RPMs
Compiler: Not Specified
OS: Not Specified
OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified

I want to use konsole as a substitute for vt520 terminals. Problem: I have to define kryptic key kombinations for e.g. F20.

I'd like to define a menu bar containing the user defined names (e.g. F20) as buttons. The button should emit the defined key sequence on klick.

The idea is derived from the x3270 terminal program (done with an extra window containing the buttons not configurable)

I think this is much better implemented as a third party tool outside of Konsole using Konsole's DCOP ( or in future DBus ) functionality. I am loathe to add any user interface elements of this sort to Konsole because it is a terminal application after all.
