(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: khtml Version: KDE 3.0.0 Severity: normal Installed from: Compiled From Sources Compiler: gcc 2.96 OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: Mandrake 8.2 If I zoom an html page to read better its content I loose the current position in the page and I have to scroll back or forward to continue reading... that's not nice. This happens also when resizing the window. You will need a web page that is long enough a Doxygen generated document should be a good choice (I experiment the problem while reading Thinking In Java which is available also on the web). (Submitted via bugs.kde.org)
I still think this is a major annoyance, and the behaviour is still there. Mozilla and IE keep the position in the document if you resize the window or zoom in/out.
Created attachment 272 [details] Showing the bug with qt-copy.
Forget the attachment, was intended for #39048. Seems I need a break. :-)
I have confirmed this. I don't know if it is possible to fix it. But if possible, it would be a nice feature.

This "bug" is still present in KDE 3.2.2. It's very annoying when reading large texts. The question is: what part of the page should keep its position? The top? The middle?
i vote for: the "thing" under the cursor shouldn't change
Replaced aaime@libero.it with hoea@gmx.at due to bounces by reporter

Problem still exists in KDE 3.5...
Niels, top of course. You read the front page, you click on some link which redirect you to some html_page#here so when you maintain the "middle" of the page position you will loose unread top. Try it with any manual in html format.

Dear user, KHTML (and KJS) was a long time more or less unmaintained and got removed in KF6. Please migrate to use a QWebEngine based HTML component. We will do no further fixes or improvements to the KF5 branches of these components beside important security fixes. For security issues, please see: https://kde.org/info/security/ Sorry that we did not fix this issue during the life-time of KHTML. Greetings Christoph Cullmann
