(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: knode Version: 0.6.1 (using KDE 2.2.2 ) Severity: normal Installed from: Compiled From Sources Compiler: GCC 3.0.2 OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified Hi! Since I changed to KDE 2.2.2 I cannot use Knode anymore eventhough Knode itself did not change from 2.2.1 to 2.2.2. When I try to start it from the konsole window the only output I get is: knode: KNApplication::newInstance() knode: KNArticleWidget::showBlankPage() By changing the symlink /opt/kde to the old installation I can correctly start the old version. There were no compilation errors ldd does not report anything about missing libs or other problems. Thanks for your help Regards Philipp (Submitted via bugs.kde.org)
Version: KDE 2.2.2 Installed from: Compiled From Sources Compiler: gcc 3.0.2 OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: Thread model: posix When starting up KNode in KDE 2.2.2 (Qt 2.3.2) it hangs when setting up the SMTP/NNTP threads. It's the following lines in knnetaccess.cpp that do not seem to work: 74: if (pthread_create(&nntpThread .... and 78: if (pthread_create(&smtpThread .... When I comment out those two blocks the KNode window shows up but as there are no threads no articles won't be loaded etc. When I was using KDE 2.2.1 with Qt 2.3.0 compiled with gcc 2.95.3 it worked. KDE 2.2.1 with Qt 2.3.2 compiled with gcc 3.0.2 does not work. Is this a (further) gcc bug? Or something with Qt? Thanks for your help. (Submitted via bugs.kde.org)

Or something with Qt? Yes gcc 3.x shouldn't be used to compile KDE2+KNode 0.6 Greetings Christian -- >><< Christian Gebauer >><< gebauer@gmx.com >><< ICQ 14916140 >><<
