Description invuladres 2016-02-13 21:43:30 UTC
After making a rectangular snapshot, the preview window does not show. Mainly when the size is limited. The snapshot is taken however, when I export to Gwenview it shows.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. take a rectangular snapshot
2.
3.

Actual Results:
no snapshot shows in the snapshot window

Expected Results:
snapshot shows up in the snapshot window

I can confirm this problem on openSUSE Leap 42.1, Spectacle 15.12.3, Qt 5.6.0, KDE Frameworks 5.20.0.
I have noticed a strange thing: Spectacle will always show the snapshot if the captured (rectangular) region contains some text; for example, a text in KWrite or KDevelop.

nvidia GPU driver?
Comment 3 ralph 2016-04-03 19:33:47 UTC
Boudhayan Gupta, yes, nVidia GPU driver, but Spectacle works perfectly if I select "Full screen", "Current screen", "Active window" or "Window under the mouse cursor".
Comment 4 Boudhayan Gupta 2016-04-03 19:43:12 UTC
This is a known issue with nVidia drivers.
Comment 5 ralph 2016-04-03 19:47:38 UTC
Boudhayan Gupta, I forgot to write that KSnapShot does not have this problem.
Comment 6 Boudhayan Gupta 2016-04-03 21:32:32 UTC
This bug is triggered by trying to draw a drop shadow behind the image preview on very small images. KSnapshot didn't attempt to draw a drop shadow.

Today I have received an automatic update to KDE Applications 16.03.90.
Now, in Spectacle 16.03.90, rectangular snapshot does not work anymore, even if I select a big area.

Hi, i have same problem, not preview and not paste any image.

The problem is in the new version, previous not have the problem, with or without nvidia proprietary drivers.

Note: window and full screen snaptshot works well.

OpenSuse 42.1
QT 5.6.0
Spectacle 16.04.0

I am not sure if this is the correct place to report this, since this bug talks about the preview not working, but just like comment #8, for me the rectangular area screenshot does not work at all, neither preview nor saved image. Only the cursor gets captured correctly in the images. Other types of screenshot work correctly.

Arch Linux - NVidia GPU
Spectacle 16.04.0
KDE Frameworks 5.21.0
Qt 5.6.0
